  • Forge Motorsport - Intercooler for Audi RSQ3 (F3) | Car Enhancements UK

forge Motorsport Forge Motorsport - Intercooler for Audi RSQ3 (F3)

Product Description Hand fabricated in the UK Simple installation  Gains up to 24BHP  35°C temperature drop 16 litre volume 640mm x 250mm x 100mm Genuine OEM crash bar supplied Guaranteed for life With our vast experience developing intercoolers for the last three generations of Audi RS3, we at Forge Motorsport have now used this experience and data to create a class leading intercooler for the Audi RSQ3 F3. FMINT38 builds on our reputation for delivering cores that offer real-world increases in power and temperature drops. Due to the RSQ3 using the legendary 2.5 TSFI engine used in the RS3 we knew that our intercooler design for that vehicle would work perfectly well on the RSQ3, however there are differences behind the bumper, so we have modified this kit to fit the F3 chassis perfectly. The core used for FMINT38 is a huge 640x250x100 and of bar and plate design. This gives it a huge 55% more surface area than OEM cooler, and an even more impressive 94% more volume (8.2 litres increased to 16l litres). The end tanks are made with integrated pipes in order to retain the stock boost hoses, though you can also replace the hoses with our FMKT024 boost hose set if you so wish. Just like on the 8V chassis, we supply a genuine Audi RSQ crash bar which we modify in house in order to accept the new larger core, then finish both the crash bar and core in our standard black finish powder coat for maximum longevity. Why do we test different cores? Here at Forge Motorsport, when developing an intercooler, we will test several different cores for each application. For example, a bar and plate style core, a tube and fin style core along with different fin pitches and heights i.e. 22 ,17 or 12 fins per inch as well as changing the internal fin pitches/shapes and density within the tube enabling to fine tune the amount of pressure drop the intercooler produces. Pressure drop is not always a bad thing, as our testing and research has proven on various projects, this is because the pressurized air velocity is being stalled by the pressure drop within the cooler thus allowing more time to cool the air within the cooler itself, as air passes through the non-pressurized face of the core, that is open to the atmosphere. Too much pressure drop can of course have a problem on the higher performance engines as the intercooler reaches its maximum efficiency the turbo has to work a lot harder to force the air through the core. This in turn creates higher inlet air temps (IAT’s) due to the turbo creating more heat as it is over stressed and worked harder. No pressure drop can also prove to be inefficient as the cooler will not lower the charge temperature again resulting in higher inlet air temperatures. As shown in the graph below, for both tests we let the car heat soak on the dyno until the radiator fans tripped on and off (which gives an inlet temperature of 36°C), then do a dyno pull from there. This gives a more consistent result and reflects real-world driving conditions more accurately. You can easily see the Forge intercooler cools much quicker and delivers a much greater drop in temperature compared to OEM.     On the standard car we tested on, it made 362bhp completely stock (so largely in line with what Audi quote) with a peak intake temperature of 58°C. With just this intercooler fitted and no other modifications, the same car made 386bhp with a peak inlet temperature of 23°C, a gain of 24bhp and a drop of 35°C. Gains on mapped cars will likely be even more impressive as the stock intercooler core really starts to struggle on stage 1 mapped cars. The Forge Motorsport front mount intercooler has all the necessary hardware and comprehensive fitting instructions to install the kit in approximately 4 hours depending on competency and tools available.

  • Forge Motorsport - Toyota Yaris GR and Corolla GR Carbon Upper Airbox Induction Kit | Car Enhancements UK

forge Motorsport Forge Motorsport - Toyota Yaris GR and Corolla GR Carbon Upper Airbox Induction Kit

Product Description Gains of 13bhp Peak torque gains of 8nm High quality carbon fibre Pleated performance air filter No engine management check lights (EML)  Increased air flow   Lifetime warranty* The Toyota Yaris GR has proven itself to be a fantastically capable vehicle since its release, and the development team at Forge Motorsport have been able to work their magic once again to find further improvements. After continued testing and discussions with owners of Yaris GR’s, the stock airbox has proven itself to function well, especially with the stock map. However, the weakness in the airbox is most definitely the quantity and directional flow of the air. As such, we explored several different avenues, before settling on a replacement upper airbox that mounts to the stock lower. When used in collaboration with the Forge Motorsport Inlet Duct (FMINLD1) performance car part, it ensures a consistent cold feed of air into the lower airbox that can then be delivered into a refined upper airbox. The increased diameter from 80mm of the stock inlet pipe to 89mm produces a volumetric increase of around 20% in just the connecting pipe from turbo inlet adapter to the airbox alone. After running data and tests it was decided that we would not use a panel filter, but instead a cone filter as shown in the CAD below. 3D scan data was utilised to ensure that the cone filter would fit in the optimum position inside the lower airbox, not just for ease of fitment but also to allow for optimum flow into the inlet tract. Due to the sensitivity of the MAF and stock map of the Yaris, a lot of testing was required to ensure that performance was gained without inflicting the driveability of the car - especially as we were changing from a panel filter to a cone filter and an increased diameter. To test this in real world conditions, we created a modular design that was 3D printed and allowed for different variations of MAF position, diameter, and airflow to be tested on road and the dyno. After finding the optimum design, we then reprinted the full prototype and left this on the vehicle. This allowed us to continue our testing to prove out the performance repeatability in real world driving conditions. We also noted at this stage that there is a small gain in induction noise. This product works extremely well when collaborated with existing Forge Motorsport performance products for the Toyota Yaris GR. With the release of our turbo inlet adapter (FMTIA8) we were able to increase the volumetric capacity over the stock inlet by 53%. Once coupled to this intake we have been able to ensure a smooth airflow from filter to turbo with minimal restrictions by continuing the 89mm diameter for a large proportion of the inlet tract. It is designed in a similar way to a conventional velocity stack by routing the air more directly into your turbo charger and allows more air to be compressed due to its larger capacity. This can have a positive effect on acceleration after long deceleration or in between gear changes due to more air being kept within the intake system. FMINDK43 is part of our acclaimed Hi Flow range and will ensure that your vehicle is getting critical cold air.  Not only are Forge Motorsport performance parts a better option for an improved drive, but carbon fibre car parts really help give an engine bay some character. The high-quality carbon fibre is prepreg 2x2 twill formed in an autoclave from billet tooling and finished with an anti UV gloss gel coat. Dyno Results We found that FMINDK43 with the stock turbo inlet produced peak gains on average of 13bhp at the wheels and peak torque gains of 8nm. The dyno graph below shows a comparison between the stock airbox, the 80mm prototype and 89mm prototype. We ran a total of 8 different prototype variations of MAF height, MAF distance from entry and inlet diameter to ensure that the best solution was used. You can see how sticking to the stock size diameter and MAF position with the cone filter produced a slight improvement to the wheel horsepower, however when increased to 89mm we were able to produce some fantastic gains from such an easy to install bolt on modification. Another important observation to note is where the power is delivered. As you can clearly see on the dyno graph that the engine produces a much higher power earlier into the rev range. From 2000rpm to 3600rpm the lower flap in the airbox is opened via a solenoid, and the dyno graph shows that at the same rpm there is an increase of around 15- 20nm of torque with FMINDK43 installed compared to stock. This figure is noticeable when driving, and you can feel that the vehicle picks up much better than in stock form. It’s worth remembering that this is with a stock ECU and no tune, so we would expect to see mapped cars returning even greater yields of power as they will be able to utilise the increase of airflow. The performance part kit comes complete with everything you need for installation, which can be carried out in around half an hour, including a set of full colour instructions. Our Toyota Yaris GR performance parts will help improve both the look and drive of your car. *Please note - the filter is excluded from the Forge lifetime warranty

  • Forge Motorsport Induction Kit for VAG 1.0 TSI | Car Enhancements UK

forge Motorsport Forge Motorsport Induction Kit for VAG 1.0 TSI

Lifetime warranty* The filter is manufactured to Forge’s specifications by Pipercross  Washable and reusable design. Layered multi-density foam technology. Designed and manufactured in Great Britain. Improvement in engine power and torque. Designed to flow stronger for longer. Fitting is straightforward and can be completed in 20-30 minutes. This kit requires no cutting or modification to the vehicle, allowing it to be reversed back to stock.   FMINDK39 is the long-awaited Forge induction kit for the VAG 1.0 TSI, including the Seat Ibiza Mk5. Our induction kit is an evolution of the FMINDK30 used for the VW UP! GTI. There are two key changes from that kit; the main and most important change is the incorporation of the OEM air duct which allows the kit to fit up to the original cold air ducting. The second alteration is the inclusion of a lid to the heat shield which has been selected to retain as much of the cold air flowing into the airbox as possible. After time spent on the dyno, we achieved gains of 5 bhp and 6lbft torque throughout the rev range which is extremely pleasing results not to mention the improved sound track our intake gives this punchy little 1.0 litre engine - higher gains can be expected from mapped cars. The Forge silicone hose has a larger bore and smooth finish inside giving optimum flow and comes in a choice of three colours: black, red, or grey. The construction of this hose has been engineered to exceed that of the OEM fitments and will enhance any car engine bay both technically and aesthetically. Why not add gold tape to the underside of the aluminium housing to further reflect any heat soak from the engine. The gold tape comes on a 5 metre roll allowing you to apply it to the underside of your Forge intake. Please note, if your engine looks like the picture below FMINDK39 and FMDV18 is not compatible. • Forge Motorsport - Toyota Corolla GR Inlet Duct | Car Enhancements UK

forge Motorsport Forge Motorsport - Toyota Corolla GR Inlet Duct

Lower inlet air temperatures (IAT's) Massive increase of OEM part Extensively tested Easy install Prepreg 2x2 twill formed carbon fibre Lifetime warranty With the success of FMINLD1 for the Yaris GR we knew that there was a great opportunity to replicate the performance and aesthetic enhancement with the Corolla GR. The Forge Motorsport inlet duct fits the factory lower airbox and focuses on keeping your inlet temperatures down during spirited driving or while on the track/rally stage. By utilising 3D scans and SolidWorks CAD, our development team have been able to optimise the size of the inlet duct, creating an increase in uninterrupted cold air to be scooped into the stock airbox. 3D printed test parts were used alongside CAD simulation to ensure the optimum size and geometry. This inlet duct is much larger than stock, by replacing the entire shroud and effectively creating one large inlet duct to feed as much cold air into the OEM lower airbox. During testing on track days, the original duct caused inlet air temperatures to be heavily influenced by heat soak and fluctuated dramatically. Meanwhile the Forge Inlet Duct kept the inlet air temperatures not only reduced but at a more consistent temperature. A reduced consistent temperature is of great importance because any high temperature peaks will cause the ECU to retard the ignition and reduce the power you have available. The Forge inlet duct design incorporates a free-flowing path to both the upper and lower opening of the airbox, whereas the stock design has no flow management to the lower opening and the upper is small and not fully sealed. It is worth understanding that the lower opening is of far greater importance to the performance of your Yaris GR. There is a vacuum operated flap which is activated when under full throttle conditions, therefore the Forge Motorsport Inlet Duct ensures that your Yaris is getting colder directed air when the engine needs it the most. With the OEM design including open sections, baffles, and noise restrictors to disrupt the airflow, the Forge Inlet Duct is part of our acclaimed Hi Flow range and will ensure that your Corolla GR is receiving critical cold air. Not only is the Forge Inlet Duct a better option for performance, but the carbon fibre really helps to give the engine bay some character. The high-quality carbon fibre is prepreg 2x2 twill formed in an autoclave from billet tooling and finished with an anti UV gloss gel coat. The Forge Motorsport lifetime warranty on all hardware products shows the trust we have in the quality of our products while they are being enjoyed on your pride and joy.

  • Forge Motorsport - Oil Cooler for Hyundai Kona N | Car Enhancements UK

forge Motorsport Forge Motorsport - Oil Cooler for Hyundai Kona N

Developed, designed, and influenced from our direct involvement with BTCC and success with the Hyundai i30N, we are proud to release an oil cooling solution for the Hyundai Kona N. This oil cooler radiator is lifted straight from our motorsport department, so we know that this product performs well, and has been proven in several race events and winning vehicles over the past years. The cores are durable enough to last full race seasons and are perfect for fast road and track use. The cooler has now also been utilised in both of our other Hyundai oil cooling solutions and cleverly redesigned for a 100% plug and play solution for the Kona N. During our time developing world leading products for the Kona N, we found a significant flaw with the vehicle, especially when tuned, just as we did with the I30N. Oil temperatures can climb to dangerous levels when on track or when driven hard in hotter climates. Rising oil temperatures will result in only one outcome: a reduction of sufficient lubrication of your engines internal components, which, in due course, can potentially lead to engine damage. We saw oil temperatures reduce significantly during the development of this product when locating the oil cooler heat exchanger at the front of the vehicle’s radiator grill, this allowed for superior air flow. FMOC14 is a must-have product for the keen driver to protect their vehicles longevity, and perform safely and reliably. Unlike many oil cooler kits on the market, FMOC14 keeps the factory oil to water cooler in position - this essentially doubles your engines oil cooling. This product is not to be confused with a universal oil cooler, FMOC14 has a laser cut aluminium bracket which makes for perfect fitment to the Kona N. The kit is completely bespoke for this vehicle, with perfect length braided oil lines and our intelligent sandwich plate design making for a straightforward installation. The oil cooler is also designed to be mounted in the most efficient way possible as shown in the diagram below. This is to avoid oil cavitation which can also in some cases lead to potential engine damage over a long period of time. Manufactured in Gloucester, UK, FMOC14 is made to the uppermost standard and is backed up by the Forge Motorsport lifetime warranty. The kit comes with the following:1x Forge Aluminium sandwich plate1x Twin pass oil cooler 4x M6x20 fasteners4x M6 washers2x Oil lines 4x M6 Rubber Riv nuts1x M20x1.5 adaptor1x weather stripAll the fixings required and a comprehensive fitting guide

  • Forge Motorsport - Carbon Induction Kit for BMW B58 (M140i, M240i, M340i, M440i) | Car Enhancements UK

forge Motorsport Forge Motorsport - Carbon Induction Kit for BMW B58 (M140i, M240i, M340i, M440i)

FITMENT: 1 SERIES F20/F21/F40 M140i 2 SERIES F22/F23 M240i 3 SERIES G20/G21 M340i 4 SERIES F32/F33/F36 M440i B58 ENGINE! Product Description +11 BHP  +19NM Torque Induction kit and inlet hose included Improved induction noise Full instructions Prepreg 2x2 twill formed carbon fibre Lifetime warranty This product is a direct fit for the OEM part 13718580424 (replaces just the upper airbox and panel filter) & 13718601682 (replaces just the turbo inlet to airbox section). The B58 engine is a masterpiece from BMW, it makes great power, produces a fantastic noise and with the addition of FMINDK50 you can take these qualities even further. When our development team analysed the OEM airbox and inlet tract on the BMW M140i kindly loaned to us from The Performance Company, we came up with a multiple part solution to maximise all areas. The Development Journey Step 1:  UK and some EU spec M140i’s have a blank which stops the low-pressure zone that builds up in front of the radiator from entering the inlet tract. We created FMINLD2, a carbon fibre sculped duct to replace the blank, and route more air into the tract towards the airbox.  Step 2: Now that this greater quantity of air has entered the airbox, we need a greater surface area of filtration to maximise the airflow towards the engine. Therefore, we decided on a high-flow performance cone filter and used our development of other upper airbox induction kits to inform our design process to create FMINDK50. Step 3: The weak link was now the OEM inlet hose with its sound resonator and accordion ribs which cause turbulence and slows down the airflow. We created FMINLH25 (included with this kit) from a multi-ply smooth silicone to significantly reduce turbulent airflow, and to handle big boost builds. We also increased its diameter from 85mm to 90mm.   We used SolidWorks CAD, 3D prints and numerous dyno sessions to truly unlock the power. Simulation testing played a large part in the design process to help maximise the airflow. We were able to experiment with the airflow entering the chamber from the inlet tract into the lower airbox, by changing the position of the filter, the size and location of the louvres and other variables to ensure that the intake is maximising performance. The 3D printed prototypes helped with comparing our simulation testing to real world driving conditions. Please see our video on YouTube which shows dyno testing of our final prototype. This is a valuable comparison that is used in the top tiers of motorsport, now being brought to your vehicle. *Get 10% off the induction kit and inlet duct when purchased together (code automatically applied at checkout) The Carbon Fibre Using carbon fibre brings obvious benefits of strength, lightweight and aesthetics. However, a part that is often forgotten is its low thermal conductivity, which means it reduces heat soak and transmission of said heat to nearby items. Keeping Inlet Air Temps (IAT’s) low is often a difficult part of developing induction systems, so replacing metal or plastic inlet solutions for FMINDK50 will help decrease IAT’s and increase the volume of air supplied to your vehicles engine that is compressed by the turbo charger. This has a better effect on performance when cool as this is to provide the engine with more oxygen (denser air), thus improving the combustion in each cylinder. In addition, by regulating and reducing the air temperature, it also increases the reliability of an engine by keeping the AFRs (Air Fuel Ratios) in each cylinder at a safe level, which in turn, can increase an engines power due to the air being cooler. A bigger bang is then created within the cylinder, providing the correct amount of fuel is added. This can equate to an increase in BHP and torque. The Inlet Hose The sound resonator and accordion ribs on the OEM inlet hose cause significant turbulence to the airflow causing a detriment to the engine’s potential performance. Our improved solution, FMINLH25 (included in this kit), gives you a host of performance upgrades, including: Improved induction noise. Multi ply silicone construction improves longevity of FMINLH25 over that of the OEM hose. 5 ply silicone construction will be able to handle strain of engine mapping far better than OEM hose. Increase of diameter at airbox end from 85mm to 90mm. Lifetime warranty. Testing   Testing was completed using Performance Remap in Gloucester with their VTEC 4 wheel drive dynamometer. This was to ensure all our data has been achieved with results as accurately as possible by an independent tuner. The results below speak for themselves, also with the added benefit of being a very easy component to fit with no specialist tools this is superb, affordable modification for the BMW enthusiast. From the Dyno Graph shown above performance gains can be expected from 2500RPM to the red line with 11BHP and around 16NM of torque at peak RPM. The torque increase is clearly visible on the dyno graph and is clear when driving the car. As soon as it comes onto boost you can feel that hit of extra torque pushing you all the way to the redline. The M140i tested on the dyno was stock other than a Pipercross performance panel filter, but with a tuned vehicle you will see greater percentage gains as the vehicle will be able to utilise the increase in volume of cold air. FMINDK50 is part of our acclaimed Hi Flow range and will ensure that your vehicle is getting critical cold air. Not only is the Forge part a better option for performance, but the carbon fibre really helps to give the engine bay some character. The weave of the carbon has been optimised to match the carbon on the intake manifold, which really shows the level of detail we put into our designs. The high-quality carbon fibre is prepreg 2x2 twill formed in an autoclave from billet tooling and finished with an anti UV gloss gel coat. The Forge Motorsport lifetime warranty* on all hardware products shows the trust we have in the quality of our products while they are being enjoyed on your pride and joy. The kit comes complete with everything you need for installation (FMINDK50 carbon induction kit and FMINLH25 inlet hose), which can be carried out in around 1 hour, including a set of full colour instructions. For such an easy to fit product it truly does create some remarkable gains. If you are looking at whether FMINDK50 fits a vehicle not specified in our compatible vehicle listing, please check if your OEM upper airbox has a channel for the strut bar to fit through, if it does FMINDK50 will not fit your vehicle. Please contact us with a photo of your engine bay if you have any questions. Induction Kit and Inlet Duct Package FMINLD2 is a simple bolt-on product which is easy to fit in approximately 45 minutes with no specialist tool, drilling or cutting required. Not only is the Forge part a better option for performance, but the carbon fibre really helps to give the front of your BMW a pleasant aesthetic appearance. The high-quality composite fibre is manufactured from 100% prepreg 2x2 carbon fibre twill formed in an autoclave from billet tooling and finished with an anti UV gloss gel coat.  Get 10% off FMINDK50 and FMINLD2 when bought together (code automatically applied at checkout) *Please note - the filter is excluded from the Forge lifetime warranty*

  • Forge Motorsport - Intercooler for Audi RS3 8Y | Car Enhancements UK

forge Motorsport Forge Motorsport - Intercooler for Audi RS3 8Y

Product Description Highlights: Peak gains of 17bhp Gains of 14lb/ft of torque 153% volume increase Hand fabricated in the UK Kit includes all necessary fittings and instructions included Lifetime warranty Following on from our very successful intercooler and performance products for the RS3 8V chassis, the Forge intercooler for the RS3 8Y chassis builds on our reputation for delivering cooling solutions, that offer real-world increases in power and impressive temperature drops. Whilst the 8Y chassis shares many components with the older 8V, the space available behind the bumper is a different shape, and the crash bar has also changed. This required a whole new intercooler and crash bar setup for this latest chassis.   The crash bar Audi has fitted to the RS3 8Y is made of steel, our Forge Motorsport intercooler kit utilizes a genuine Audi alloy crash bar, that we have cleverly modified in-house, in order to accept the enormous race intercooler. This in-turn when compared to the weight of the standard OEM intercooler and crash bar, is only 1kg heavier, meaning the additional weight has no detriment to performance and is far outweighed by the power gains achieved when it is installed. After our skilled fabricators have carefully crafted this piece of automotive artwork, we then finish both the crash bar and intercooler in our standard black finish powder coat for maximum longevity and that OEM+ look. The RS3 8Y core is a huge 640x250x130 with a bar and plate design. This gives it an impressive 55% increase in surface area over the stock OEM item, and an even more awe-inspiring 153% more volume. The end tanks are made with integrated pipes to retain the stock boost hoses, though you can also replace the standard hoses with our FMKT033 boost hose set if you so wish. This can help prevent hose expansion and failure when running increased boost pressures, just like on the 8V chassis. Before getting to work on the Dyno, we spec’d three different types of cores, one of these being bar and plate, and two being a tube and fin construction, with all three cores having different internal and external fin pitches and configurations. This is to ensure we deliver the best possible products for our customers, which is proven time and time again by one of the world leaders in the performance industry. Why do we test different cores? Here at Forge Motorsport, when developing an intercooler, we will test several different cores for each application. For example, a bar and plate style core, a tube and fin style core along with different fin pitches and heights, e.g., 22 ,17 or 12 fins per inch, as well as changing the internal fin pitches/shapes and density within the tube enabling to fine tune the amount of pressure drop the intercooler produces. Pressure drop is not always a bad thing, as our testing and research has proven on various projects, this is because the pressurized air velocity is being stalled by the pressure drop within the cooler, thus allowing more time to cool the air within the cooler itself as air passes through the non-pressurized face of the core, that is open to the atmosphere. Too much pressure drop can of course have a problem on the higher performance engines as the intercooler reaches its maximum efficiency, the turbo must work a lot harder to force the air through the core. This in-turn creates higher inlet air temps (IAT’s), as the turbo is creating more heat as it is working harder. No pressure drop can also prove to be inefficient as the cooler will not lower the charge temperature again, resulting in higher inlet air temperatures. Dyno Testing Testing was completed independently on Litchfield’s Maha dyno, manufactured by the same people who currently supply BMW M Sport and Mercedes Benz for all their engine calibration and dyno testing. The graph below shows the rolling road test for the OEM intercooler, for both tests we let the car heat soak on the dyno until the radiator fans tripped on and off (which gives an inlet temperature of 36°C), then do a dyno pull from there. This gives a more consistent result and reflects real-world driving conditions more accurately. On the vehicle we used for testing and development, it made 424.9BHP and 382.9lb/ft. This vehicle was completely standard apart from being fitted with a Milltek cat back performance exhaust system. The measured power output is marginally more than the figures Audi quote, with a data logged peak intake temperatures of 43°C at 6550RPM. We then swapped out the OEM intercooler with the FMINT33 race intercooler to continue testing. The same car made 441.9BHP and 397.3lb/ft of torque with a peak recorded inlet temperature of 21.8°C at 6450RPM, this equates to a gain of 17BHP and 14lb/ft, and a drop of 22°C. Gains on mapped cars will likely be even more impressive as the stock intercooler core struggles on just stage 1 mapped cars, as previously found on the older RS3 that still uses the DAZA engine. From the independent testing and results pictured, you can see the intercooler really does deliver you unparalleled levels of performance. The Forge intercooler cools faster and delivers a far greater drop in temperature compared to OEM intercooler. The intercooler has all the necessary hardware and comprehensive fitting instructions to install the kit in approximately 4 hours depending on competency and tools available.

This has allowed us to create FMINDK44, the second induction kit we have available for the EA888 gen 3 and gen 4 platform (alongside our carbon fibre variant, FMINDK40). This kit features either a Forge Motorsport Ram Air high flow, pleated, synthetic nanofiber filtration filter or a Pipercross foam filter. Both are manufactured for optimum size and fit to the available space giving superior flow and filtration with enhanced breathing for the 2.0 turbo charged engine. It also features a larger surface area than the stock filter and many competitors’ alternatives. The intake diameter has been carefully tuned to provide exactly the correct quantity of air for consistent power gains throughout the rev range and minimising the chance of low-end torque loss; the pipework is specifically designed to feed the turbo without interruption. The result of this is a gain of induction acoustics under acceleration, which improves the driving experience and adds a bit more drama to the EA888 engine. With the use of SolidWorks, our CAD engineers have designed the heat shroud to fit round all the contours of the engine bay. This shroud combined with our specially formulated thermal coatings protects the intake from radiant heat while also guiding the cold air from the OE cold air ducting to the filter and housing. The majority of our dyno testing was done on our VW Golf R MK8 EA888 Gen 4, as such you may find slight variations in gains when fitted to other vehicles sharing this engine. During the final prototypes testing we found that the induction kit with stock turbo inlet produced gains on average of 3.5BHP. However, when paired with our turbo inlet adaptor FMTIA5 (RHD), FMTIA6, or FMTIA9 (LHD), or FMINLMK7, this is where the stock EA888 gen4 engine saw impressive gains, increasing power up to 13BHP at 6500RPM with a significant average power increase from 4500RPM to the 6700RPM Rev limit of 8BHP; while the drivability and the punch from extra torque increases can be felt on the road at between 4000RPM to the rev limit an average gain of 17NM is achieved. It’s worth remembering that this is with a stock ECU and no tune, so we would expect to see mapped cars returning even greater yields of power.     Why Do We Try To Decrease Inlet Air Temperatures (IAT’S)? By utilising the OEM cold air feed, and keeping the heat shield open on the headlight corner side we were able to see a decrease in IAT’s compared to the OEM during testing. By ensuring that the intake heat shield is open on this side it also means that vehicles being tuned to stage 2/3+ have a reduced risk of being restricted with them pulling in a greater quantity of air. Temperature and volume of air supplied to your vehicles engine that is compressed by the turbo charger has a better effect on performance when cool as this is to provide the engine with more oxygen (denser air), thus improving the combustion in each cylinder. In addition, by regulating and reducing the air temperature, it also increases the reliability of an engine by keeping the AFRs (Air Fuel Ratios) in each cylinder at a safe level, which in turn can increase an engines power due to the air being cooler. A bigger bang is then created within the cylinder, providing the correct amount of fuel is added. This can equate to an increase in BHP and torque. It’s worth noting that this induction kit offers a massive amount of air to the EA888 engine, which is a must for anyone looking to push the performance when tuning to stage1, stage 2 and beyond. Not only do you get the bhp performance benefits, but FMINDK44 also offers a greater sound from the engine; particularly when on boost, and our product testers have reported a more responsive throttle too. Careful consideration into the other platforms that share the same engine configurations had also been at the forefront of our development engineers’ minds. This needed various vehicles to be sourced to ensure a perfect fit for many of the VAG groups performance vehicles. You have only got to look at our compatibility list to realise how much research and development has gone into this extraordinary performance induction kit. The kit comes complete with everything you need for installation, which can be carried out in around 1 hour, including a set of full colour instructions. For such an easy to fit product it truly does create some remarkable gains. The kit has been designed not just to increase power but to fit a whole range of vehicles on the MQB platform. This goes as far as to include cars using the OEM turbo elbow and the Forge Motorsport FMTIA5/FMTIA6/FMTIA9 high flow elbows. With FMTIA5/FMTIA6/FMTIA9 using multi ply silicone, it has minimal flex; however the OEM inlet hose uses an accordion rib design which could cause the filter to damage itself or the heat shield. Unlike our competitors, we have included a P-clip and tab on the back of the heat shield, allowing the OEM inlet hose to be secured to the heat shield, meaning no damage and no annoying rattles! Time taken to install - around 1 hour

With the highly successful FMINDK30 and FMINDK39 induction kits for the previous generation 1.0 TSI VAG vehicles there has been a large demand for Forge Motorsport to develop an improved air intake system for the latest VAG power unit.  As with all manufacturers in recent times, the need to make smaller capacity engines more powerful with better efficiency has been their top priority. To achieve these goals, the OEM design engineers must maximise the space to its fullest, which in turn creates more of a challenge for the aftermarket manufacturers and tuners to improve what is already fitted to the vehicle. Nonetheless, this has not stopped us at Forge Motorsport! Even with plenty of expertise from past developments with the previous small capacity VAG engines, this new power unit needed an extensive amount of testing time to ensure we produced a product that provided genuine improvements over the standard air box.  The CAD designed, laser cut, and precision folded heat shield is designed to form a barrier between the air inlet tract and radiant heat from the engine. It also helps duct the cold air to the air filter, to preserve low intake temperatures, which in-turn creates more power. Finished in our black textured powder coating, this creates a product with an OEM look and quality. This kit is offered with our Forge high flow, pleated, synthetic nanofiber filtration filter, which has been manufactured for optimum size and fit to the available space giving superior flow and filtration with enhanced breathing for the 1.0 turbo charged engine.   Alternatively, there is our foam filter option available soon that has been exclusively manufactured by Pipercross. During dyno testing we tried several filter options and we found that neither filter excelled over the other with results being almost identical throughout the rev range. Both the filters offered can be oiled by the end user to prevent fine dust commonly found in hot climates from entering the inlet tract. Testing was completed using Performance Remap in Gloucester with their VTEC 4 wheel drive dynamometer. This was to ensure all our data has been achieved with results as accurately as possible by an independent tuner.  The dyno graph below shows torque gains at 2600RPM all the way to redline, with a gain of nearly 10NM from between 3000RPM and 3500RPM. This gain is very beneficial as it is consistently higher than stock from turbo spool up through to full boost, resulting in noticeably sharper acceleration and a more exhilarating experience for the driver, as typically this is where true power gains can be felt when behind the wheel.   The Forge Motorsport induction kit FMINDK52 includes all the necessary hardware and step by step installation instructions for any car enthusiast with basic garage tools to fit at home, in just a couple of hours!
